Plan Ahead!

In an effort to better serve the needs of your pet, we at Betty Baugh's Animal Clinic ask that you allow us 48 hours for prescription refill requests. This allows us time to more thoroughly review your pets medications. As time passes, your pet needs may change and we need to keep up with those changes. Periodically, re-evaluations and blood monitoring profiles will be recommended. In most cases, we will still be able to refill your pet's medication in less than two days and will call you when they are ready. Thank you for your cooperation as we make this change.

February is DENTAL month
1/4/2012

In an effort to elevate the importance of pet dental care in owners minds, the American Veterinary Medical Association spreads the word about dental care during National Pet Dental Health Month. During National Pet Dental Health Month, pet owners are reminded of the dangers of poor pet dental care. Because dogs and cats can't brush their own teeth, it's up to their owners to ensure their beloved pets get the dental care they need. Trouble begins when food particles and bacteria build up in the mouth form plaque and tartar, which
leads to gingivitis and severe Dental disease. Periodontal disease leads to tooth decay, bad breath, bleeding gums, and, in severe cases, tooth loss. Even more complications arise when the bacteria that causes periodontal disease travels into a pet's bloodstream, possibly resulting in damage to the heart, liver, kidneys and lungs.

Please contact the clinic for more information or to schedule a dental appointment for your four legged friend.

Lyme Disease in our Animals
1/4/2012

Betty Baugh's Animal Clinic has been treating many cases of Lyme disease this year.  We urge our clients to keep flea and tick prevention on their animals year round. The clinic recommends vaccinating dogs for lyme disease. Vaccinating before exposure can help prevent dogs from contracting Lyme disease.
Attached is a website that gives you signs and symptons of Lyme disease and also explains that Lymes disease can be a silent disease.  Meaning you can not be aware for many months the animal is affected.
